Having already achieved record sales and long been the most admired and widely imitated motorcycles, Ducati is now extending its Monster range still further for 2007 by focusing on the SR series, known to motorcyclists as the "single-sided swingarm" family and distinguished by its aggressive and exclusive appearance. In 2003 the arrival of the high-powered, gritty S4R represented a major milestone in the history of Ducati motocycles, while 2005 saw the launch of the S2R with a tamer, less daunting engine that retained the appearance of the aggressive S4R but appealed to those who preferred less extreme performance. Offered in 800cc and 1000cc versions, with two-valve Desmo and air-cooling, the SR2 immediately won favour on the international market, as proven once again by the massive sales. |

2006 will leave an equally important mark in the history books, making a breakthrough in terms of quality, performance, exclusiveness and sheer personality. For 2007, Ducati offers a no-compromise, authentic naked superbike with all-out power and grunt from the Desmodromic "Testastretta" powerplant. This jewel in the Monster crown comes with a brand new nametag, the Monster S4R S, and is destined to become the new benchmark in this segment. The 2007 Monster family also adds the new S4R Testastretta to its already impressive line-up. This brand new model is powered by the famous 130hp Testastretta, deep-sump, L-Twin engine, previously powering only the top of the range S4R S. Another newcomer for 2007 is the Monster 695 which replaces the 620 with a quantum leap forward in terms of handling, riding pleasure and performance. The potent new 695cc L-Twin delivers much greater horsepower and torque - the highest output per cc of any Ducati air-cooled engine -making every twist of the throttle exciting and satisfying. From this year, the famous Trellis frame, central to the appeal of the Monster family, has been made even more beautiful by improving the routing of all wiring harnesses. Every model in the family also now boasts multi-functional electronic instrumentation which has two new display management functions: trip fuel and auto 'light off' system. The former is an additional trip meter that is activated when the fuel reserve light is on, while the latter is a feature that automatically switches off the lights after 60 seconds of 'key-on' if the engine is not running. |

As a result of constant investment in engineering and quality control, every model in the 2007 range will benefit from a new maintenance programme in which servicing intervals have been extended, less parts are required and fewer operations have to be performed. The result is that the bike's overall scheduled maintenance costs are reduced by up to 50%.
